Pastor's Notes :
Where did the summer go?
I do know that we, as a church, had a number of summer events
that provided great opportunities for fellowship.
I don’t remember a busier summer schedule of activities.
I don’t know about you, but I am looking forward to the fall,
especially cooler weather. I’m
not like Russell Sandman who likes the heat of summer all year round.
But, I do miss him (and Rosemary).
On September 7 all of our fall ministries will be
in full swing. We have
something for all ages. We
have a nursery for those under the age of three.
We have AWANA for those from the age of three to the sixth
grades. We have BJF
(Bigelow Jesus Freaks) for those in the seventh through twelfth grade.
And we have an adult Bible study for everyone else.
The adults will be studying through Psalm 119 (all 176 verses).
Please make plans to attend these opportunities to grow.
Also, please be praying for each of these ministries throughout
the ministry year. I am so
thankful for those who have worked faithfully in each of these
ministries for so many years.
Update
The DPA (Deacons, Pastor, and Associates) is close to finalizing the
elder statement we have been working on for some time, and the review of
the doctrinal statement of Bigelow.
We will next begin work on the remaining parts of our church’s
constitution and bylaws. We
will continue to keep you informed of our progress.
Please continue to pray for us as we move ahead.
Sermon Series
The next sermon series we will consider is titled “Whatever Happened
To Hell?” This follows on
the heels of our study “Whatever Happened To Sin?”
Then, and I promise, we will get into the Book of Hebrews.
So, come prepared to hear what God desires for us to hear
concerning the superiority of His Son, Jesus Christ.
Men's Prayer Meetings
Men, just a reminder that we will have our next prayer meeting together
on Saturday, September 6 at 7:00 am.
Let me encourage all of our men to attend.
We have a short devotional time, we spend some time taking prayer
requests, and then we pray as we feel led.
No one is called upon to pray.
I look forward to seeing you at this meeting.
This is a great opportunity to grow, and get to know other men in
our fellowship.
Upcoming Opportunities
Many folks in our congregation have benefited from the Crown Financial
Ministries Bible Study we have offered on three occasions.
This fall we anticipate offering another opportunity.
It is my desire that everyone, and I mean everyone, in our
fellowship would participate in this life-changing study.
Please see me if you have any interest or questions, and I will
put you in touch with our church coordinator (Harold Mullins).
On
September 20 there will be a Biblical Counseling seminar at the Kingdom
Builders Church on Waller Street in Portsmouth. Pastor Brad Brandt and I will be leading the seminar for the
benefit of the churches in the area.
I want to personally invite our church family to attend this
seminar for a number of reasons. First,
the seminar will help us grow in our confidence that God’s Word is
sufficient for the problems we face.
Second, the seminar is an opportunity for us to fellowship with
churches in the Waller Street area.
As you know they have faced some difficulties, and our attendance
will help build the local body of Christ in our community.
The seminar begins at 9 am and concludes at 4:30 pm.
Please mark this on your calendar, and make plans to attend.
Thank You
I want to thank you all for your continued prayers offered on
behalf of our church’s ministry. Also,
thank you for your faithfulness in attendance, serving, and giving. We are truly blessed people.
It is a joy to serve Jesus Christ with you.
In Christ,
Pastor Frank
