Pastor’s Note:
In a little over a month, we will be voting on the
adoption of a new church constitution.
Many years of work have gone into bringing us to this important
vote. Your input has been
of great help in this process. I
so appreciate your input and your prayers in this endeavor.
Please continue to pray for the leadership as we seek to move
forward in this work. I
trust that having a solid foundation to build upon will cause us to grow
as a church body.
We will have one more congregational meeting prior
to voting to accept the proposed constitution on November 16th.
The date set for this congregational meeting will be October 19th
at 7:00 pm. At this
meeting, you will be given an opportunity to share any comments you may
have regarding the most recent revision to the proposed constitution
dated September 21, 2004.
Then at our Annual Business Meeting on December
1st, we will be voting on folks to fill the offices of Elders, Deacons,
Treasurer, Financial Secretary, and Clerk.
We will also vote on the acceptance of the 2005 Budget.
At this time, we have chairpersons chosen to head up the Budget
and Nominating Committees. You
will be hearing more on these in the near future.
So, again, please be praying for God’s direction as we chose
qualified people to serve in these important positions.
Deacon Training
Over a year ago, the current Deacons and I conducted a six month study
of biblical eldership. The
study was done to prepare men for the important role of Elder in our
church body.
Now, we are conducting a study to prepare men for
the important role of Deacon. It
is of great importance that we have qualified and trained men to fulfill
the role of Deacon.
You will be given an opportunity to vote on the
Deacons and the Elders at our December meeting.
Please pray for these men who desire to serve in these offices.
God has given us wonderful leaders.
Sermon Series
We will finish our study of the Book of Hebrews early this month.
I’m not exactly sure when we started this series, but I know we
started in 2003. I have had
a few folks who have visited with us ask, “Are you still in the Book
of Hebrews?” So, soon, I will be able to say that we are no longer in
Hebrews, but we are in the Song of Solomon (Song of Songs). The Song of Solomon presents some challenges, but I’m
confident we will glean much from our study.
Please take the time to read through the book prior to our start
of the study. Please pray
for me as I work on understanding the author’s intent in writing the
book, and how that applies to us today.
I so appreciate your prayers in this weekly endeavor.
Thank You
What a blessing to continue to serve as your pastor!
Though we continue to face challenges as a body, we find that God
is faithful to His work in our midst.
I am thankful for His work in and through each of you. Your faithful prayers, giving, serving, and attendance at our
meetings are greatly appreciated. Let
us look with expectancy to God’s continued gracious work here at
Bigelow (the bright white)
Church.
