Pastor’s Note:
We have enjoyed a good start to our fall programs.
It is exciting to see so many young folks turning out for AWANA
and BJF. It has also been a
blessing to see many of our adults turning out for our Sunday evening
Bible study. We still have
room to grow in each of our Sunday evening ministries, so come join us.
The Lord has blessed us through the ministries of
our church to see some folks come to faith in Christ.
As a result, we will be having a baptismal service on Sunday,
October 12. At the same time, we will be bringing folks into membership
of Bigelow Church. If you
are interested in discussing baptism or membership, then please see
Pastor Frank ASAP. Please
continue to pray for the ministries of Bigelow, as we desire to see
folks come to faith in Christ, and for believers to grow in the grace
and knowledge of Jesus Christ.
Growth Opportunities
Disciplehour provides a wonderful opportunity for growth for the
young and old among us. We
have classes for all ages. This
past year we started a new class for college students and young adults.
Joe Allwood has been leading this class.
Joe puts much effort into teaching the class each week.
His teaching is relevant to the challenges that this group of
adults face on the college campus and in the work place.
My class (the basement class) has had the privilege of having Joe
lead us in a study of postmodernism.
The term may not mean anything to you, but it is an important
study as it affects all areas of our lives today.
Ray McCoy continues to teach the other adult class
that meets in the parlor. Ray
has been teaching through the Bible, book by book, for a number of years
now. If you have not taken
advantage of this opportunity to grow, then please make the effort to be
in one of our Disciplehour classes, which start at 9:45 am each Sunday.
DPA Update
The DPA (Deacons, Pastor, and Associates) has finished the first draft
of our elder statement. We
continue to study our way through the remainder of our church
constitution. We have for years talked about the importance and necessity
of doing so, and now we are thankful to be giving much time to the
study. This study has
strengthened our understanding of God’s purpose for the Church of
Jesus Christ. And, it has
strengthened the leadership of our church body.
Please continue to pray for us as we continue on.
I also want to express my appreciation for each of
the men who have worked so diligently in this, and not only this, but
also in the leadership of our fellowship.
I could not do the many things I do without the gifts, time,
love, commitment, and resources of each of these men.
I ask that you take the time to thank God for them, and to thank
them personally, either in person, by card, or whatever way you deem
appropriate. The month of
October has been set aside to appreciate pastors, but I believe we ought
to appreciate all those who assist the pastor in leading the local
church body.
Sermon Series
We are a couple of messages into our study of the book of Hebrews.
We will be spending many months working our way through this
powerful, and timely book. We
are also continuing our study of Psalm 119 on Sunday evenings.
I look forward to seeing you at each of these services.
Please continue to pray for these services.
Thank You
Again, I say thank you for all your support for the ministries of
Bigelow Church. You have
been faithful in your attendance, prayers, service, and giving.
May God extend His kingdom through the work of Bigelow Church.
In Christ,
Pastor Frank
