Pastor’s Note:
I hope that you are enjoying the mild fall
temperatures so far. I’m sure cooler days are ahead, but we have the warmth of a
wonderful building to worship and serve in.
As you are aware, we are looking forward to doing some exterior
work in the spring of next year. By
this time next year, God willing, we will have the exterior of the
building painted. We
already have some of the money needed to start the job, but we still
need more to be able to pay for it when completed, without going into
debt. We need to be good
stewards of the resources God has given to us, and we believe the
financial investment in the building is a part of that stewardship.
We also believe that this will go a long way as a testimony to
our community. The trustees
and many others have put a lot of time and effort into making this a
reality. Thank you!
FORGIVE ME, PLEASE!
All the work put into the painting of the building illustrates how
big a task it is to care for God’s people each week.
I am thankful for the work that so many do in ministering to the
spiritual and physical needs of those who attend Bigelow Church. It would be an impossible task for one person to oversee and
carry out the whole of the ministry to our church body.
But I must say, some of you may have “fallen through the
cracks” of our ministry. For
that I seek your forgiveness. We
are seeking to do a better job of following up on our folks.
One way of doing this is through the re-implementation of our
deacon care groups. Each of
the deacons will be responsible for the oversight and care of a number
of our church members. Once
we have completed assigning folks to deacons, you will hear from the
deacon responsible for your care.
Also, it is important for each of you to be ministering to one
another. What I mean by
this is that we, as brothers and sisters in the Lord, should pay
attention to the needs and concerns of one another.
There are a number of folks in our church who are constantly
looking for ways to minister to others in need.
The truth is that we need more folks doing this.
We need folks to call on those they miss in church, to pray for
one another, to send a card, make a hospital or nursing home visit, or
even do some repairs or chores as needed.
Part of the rub in all this is that we are not always willing to
be ministered to by others. Why?
Pride. Let’s put
aside our pride and look at ways to help one another, and being helped
by others. The love we have
for God should be seen in the love we have for His children.
Please take this as a challenge to get involved in one
another’s lives, for Christ’s sake!
GROWTH OPPORTUNITIES
Again, by way of reminder, we have learning opportunities each
Sunday morning in Disciplehour. There
are classes for all ages. Check
them out. We continue our
study of the Book of Hebrews in our worship hour.
We have evening clubs for our young among us, and we have an
adult Bible study in the auditorium (continuing a study of Psalm 119).
And one last item, Paul Harper will be with us this month on
Sunday, November 9. He is
such a powerful preacher of the truth of God’s Word.
Come and grow. The
table is set each week by many gifted teachers, but you need to come and
dine. We look forward to
seeing you at the family table.
THANK YOU
It is my continued privilege to serve as your pastor.
Thank you for your prayers and love.
Also, thank you for your faithful attendance, prayer, and giving
to the work of Christ at Bigelow.
In Christ,
Pastor Frank
