Pastor’s
Note:
Summer’s heat is upon us as many prepare to take some vacation
time. I, too, am looking
forward to some time away from the routine of life and ministry.
Yet, ministry continues even when the pastor is away.
Many folks step in to help keep things going while I am away for
a couple of weeks each year. We are blessed to have many who can step in and do what is
necessary to keep us going.
And, as you will read in another article in the newsletter, we
are hoping to add additional ministry staff by August 1, 2005.
We believe this addition will move us from where we are to where
we want to be. Having
another pastor who is giving attention to where we are and where we are
going will be of great benefit in the long run.
With this in mind, we are delighted to introduce to you Brian
Evans who has been worshiping with us since January of this year.
You can find more information about Brian, his family, his
education, and his experience further in the newsletter.
Please take the time to read the information carefully, and
please give time to praying about this important matter.
Brian has been teaching in our basement adult Disciple Hour class
for a couple of months, and he has done a great job.
Many of you have already heard him both preach and teach back in
May. You will have the
opportunity to hear him again on July 3, 10, & 17.
Why so many times? It
is important that the person we bring on staff have good preaching
skills, and these dates give us ample opportunity to assess Brian’s
skill in handling accurately God’s Word.
Please pray for Brian, as he prepares for these dates.
I have absolute confidence that Brian will add a depth and
breadth that will bring spiritual growth to our congregation.
I trust you will have this confidence as well once you have heard
him preach.
We will also have a time to get to know Brian and his family at a
luncheon to be held on July 17. You
will be hearing more about the details in time.
So, please make plans to stay after service that Sunday and get
to know the Evans family. These
are exciting times to be a part of the Bigelow Church family.
Miscellaneous
Matters
Please avail yourselves of the many wonderful classes offered
during Disciple Hour. Each
teacher prepares to accurately communicate the truths of God’s Word. So, come and join us.
I will be going to the Ukraine again in November.
I am in the midst of preparing the materials for the further
training of Ukrainian pastors. I
will need to raise support of approximately $2500.00 to cover the
expense of the three week trip. Of
this cost, approximately $700.00 is Airfare, with the remaining $1800.00
used to get the nearly thirty men to the training facility.
This amount provides for their stay, their food, their
transportation (for some, over 30 hours by train) and their training
materials. If you are interested in helping with funding the trip, then
please make your check payable to Bigelow Church with a memo
“Pastor’s Trip.” But,
more importantly, please begin to pray for God’s blessings upon the
trip and His work in the Ukraine for the Gospel’s sake.
Thanks again for all your prayers on our behalf, your faithful
attendance and giving. God
bless you.
