Pastor’s Note:
Another year is coming to a close.
This is a good time to look back over the year and take an
inventory of sorts. So, let
me encourage you to stop and consider God’s faithfulness and goodness.
If you need help, then re-read the book of Hebrews.
I have found our study in this book to be just what my soul
needs. It has brought me to
consider afresh God’s marvelous plan of salvation, especially how
every detail of history points us to the salvation He gives in His Son.
We dare not miss the importance that God places on His Son, and
the “so great salvation” that He secures for all who come to Him by
faith. I pray that this
will spark a fire within us as a body of believers that will draw many
to consider Christ. A life
aflame with the love and power of Christ within is our best
advertisement as a church body. I’m
convinced that we will grow to the extent that we are living in
compliance with the teachings of Scripture.
Those whom God is seeking (John 4) will be drawn to Christ and
His body when they see folks committed to faithfully living the truths
of Scripture. This is not a
time to compromise, far too many have and at great cost to the cause of
Christ.
Let us capture the remaining time of this year to
make Christ known in our daily lives—home, work, and recreation.
Let us invite folks to consider Christ. Let us invite folks to
come into a vital relationship with Jesus Christ by faith alone.
Let us invite folks to church each week. This is a good time of the year to do so.
Many folks are looking for a place to go during the holiday
season, and they are waiting to be asked to come with you to church.
Through the preaching and teaching of God’s Word each week, I
set the table with life-giving food.
It is up to you to invite folks to come and dine.
Then we can trust God to do what He alone can do, and that is
open a heart to hear the truth of Scripture and be saved.
Let’s each do our part, and let’s watch God work in our
midst. So, check the church
calendar of events, and make your invitations now.
A THANK YOU AND A CHALLENGE
There are so many folks that I would like to thank individually, but
that would take more space than Terra allows.
And it is possible that I would inadvertently miss someone, thus
making him or her and me feel bad.
So, here is a generic thank you attempt.
Thank you all for your faithful support of the ministries of
Bigelow Church. I am thankful for those who faithfully give, pray, and work
(many times unseen, and unpaid) so that we might accomplish our mission
to make disciples who make disciples.
And, more specifically, I am thankful for the leadership team of
Bigelow. Each of them gives
generously of their time to keep us moving in the right direction.
God has been faithful in meeting our needs both physically and
spiritually.
Now, here is my challenge.
We still need folks to step up and use their spiritual gifts and
abilities. There are many areas in our fellowship that need help.
We are in need of Disciplehour teachers, and substitutes who
provide some relief for the regular teachers.
We are in need of nursery workers so that no one is stuck in the
nursery till it is time to go to the nursing home.
We need folks to follow up on those among us who are sick or
confined to a health care facility. We need folks looking after others in our midst who seemingly
have vanished from our assembly. We
need folks to take advantage of the many learning opportunities
available. We need folks
who are faithfully praying, giving, and serving.
Is it you? If you
have an interest in serving, then please see me ASAP.
There is a place here at Bigelow for you to use your gifts and
abilities. And, finally,
let me challenge you who have been attending Bigelow for some time, but
who have not yet joined us as members, to let this be the time that you
do so. There are benefits
to being a member. Let me
discuss them with you at your convenience.
May God bless His work in our midst!
In Christ,
Pastor Frank
