Pastor’s Note:
We have enjoyed the many activities of the
summer—fellowship meals and Ice Cream Social.
By the way, we had our largest crowds to date for these summer
activities. I want to thank
each of you for your participation, and I hope that next year we will
exceed the new record. Maybe
the new record had something to do with the new paint job?
Congregational Meeting Update
We had the first of two congregational meetings in August. The meeting was profitable as we seek clarity before moving
on.
I want to thank each of you who have shared your
insights and questions with us. The
leadership continues to work on providing further clarification.
You still have time to ask any questions you may have. Our next congregational meeting will be held on Tuesday,
September 21 at 7 pm. Please
feel free to ask questions of any of the deacons or me.
As we proceed, please continue to pray that God would give us the
wisdom we need.
Sermon Series
We are closing in on the final message from the book of Hebrews.
I know it is hard to believe.
I’m still debating where we are going next, but I have an idea
or two. I’m now
considering the Song of Solomon (Song of Songs).
Sunday Evening
On Sunday evenings, we will be considering the Disciple’s Prayer
found in Matthew 6 and Luke 11.
A study for the women of our church will also be conducted,
concurrently. I’m sure that either study will be of great benefit to you.
This is our first attempt to run two studies at the same time,
with the hope of providing new opportunities for growth in the future.
As I have mentioned before, the goal is to provide a series of
studies to help us grow in Christlikeness.
Watch for details.
Disciple Hour
Another opportunity to help you grow is found on Sunday mornings at
9:45 am. We have classes
for all ages. We have three
adult classes, and a class for all others.
Our toddlers through High School students will begin using new
Disciple Hour material. We
will begin using Great Commission Publication literature starting the
first Sunday of September. We
are excited about the focus and usability of the new literature.
Your children or grandchildren will notice the difference.
So, we look forward to seeing you on Sunday mornings.
AWANA & BJF
And, yet another opportunity awaits the young among us each Sunday
evening. We begin our 18th
year of AWANA this fall. Make
sure to get your children and grandchildren involved in Scripture
memory, game time, and the hearing of a Bible message.
Our Junior and Sr. High students learn how to apply
biblical truths to their daily lives, and enjoy many regular activities.
As you can see, there is something for every one at Bigelow.
God has given us some wonderful teachers and staff to help our
young folks grow in Christlikeness. Please take advantage of this opportunity.
Thank You
We would not be as effective at accomplishing our goals and
objectives without you. You
have been faithful in your giving, your attendance, your service, and
your prayers. So, thank you
for your faithfulness. May
God continue to bless His work among us.
