Pastor’s Note:
We come to the close of our 18th AWANA
year this month. Many
people, for years, have worked tirelessly to get us to this point.
Many boys and girls have come to know Christ as Savior through
this ministry, while others have come to a greater understanding of
God’s Word. These two
things represent much of the work that we seek to accomplish at Bigelow
in each ministry.
Growth Opportunities
With that said, I want to remind all of us of the many different
growth opportunities afford us each week.
Each week, we start with Disciple Hour with classes for every age
group. Each teacher puts
much time into preparing to help us grow in Christlikeness.
Then, we come together for corporate worship. And, finally, we conclude with a time of study in God’s
Word. We continue this
pattern throughout the year. The
only change is that AWANA ends May 1, but Tame The Tongue Club begins
the following week. BJF
continues, as does our evening adult Bible study.
I look forward to seeing you and your families at these
opportunities for growth. They
are worth your time and effort.
Also, added to the above list of growth
opportunities will be a couple of special studies for the late spring
and summer. We will be
offering the Crown Financial Ministries Small Group Bible Study in the
late spring. This study
will help you understand what the Bible has to say about money, the
management of money, and the management of resources in a God-honoring
way. Keri and I have greatly benefited from this study ourselves,
and we highly recommend it
to you. The Orientation
date is set for May 22 at 6 pm at the church.
If you have any questions, then either see Harold Mullins, CPA or
me. Added to this is the possibility of a home Bible study on the
Book of Proverbs in the early summer.
I will get back with you on the details just as soon as the plans
are formalized. So, watch
for details in the bulletin and next month’s newsletter.
Deacon Care Ministry
I hope you have noticed the great amount of work being done by
the Deacons. Many of you
have responded to their pleas for help, and are now using your gifts and
abilities to minister to the body of Christ at Bigelow.
But, there is much more work to be done, so we are waiting for
the rest of you to check into what you might do with your gifts and
abilities. Check out the
ministry opportunities that still need help.
Do it today! Thanks so much for you willingness to serve.
Elder Care Ministry
The Elders continue to discuss ministry direction, especially
how we might fully implement our philosophy of ministry.
Part of our implementation strategy was to offer our first core
seminar to the men of Bigelow. We
have now completed this seminar, and each man was challenged to be the
spiritual leaders God called them to be.
Our desire is for every man in Bigelow to go through the seminar,
and so we will offer it again for those of you who could not make the
first offering. We are
currently working on our next core seminar offerings.
We will keep you informed on our progress.
We also are continuing to discuss the need for
additional pastoral staff. We
solicit your prayers on our behalf as we continue to discuss this need.
We have met with the Deacons to discuss the financial feasibility
of this addition at this time.
Thank You
I close with my usual “Thank You.”
I am thankful for your participation in the ministry of Bigelow.
I appreciate your prayers, attendance, service, and financial
support. I trust God will
continue to lead us, and to provide for us as He has faithfully done
each year.
In Christ,
Pastor Frank
