Pastor’s
Note:
Our painting project started well, but has now
stalled out. Our contractor
has decided that he no longer wants to continue the project.
Gary Johnson and Butch Stall have put many hours into moving the
exterior renovation forward, and are now discussing our options.
When our present contractor’s intentions were
made known, Butch contacted the second lowest bidder to see if he was
interested in completing the painting project.
Gary and Butch met with him and are working out the details to
get us back on track. It is
possible that within three weeks, we will see progress to the delight of
us all. We will keep you
informed of further developments. In
the mean time, continue to pray that all the details work out in a
God-honoring way.
Constitutional Review Update
A rough draft of proposed changes to our constitution has been
mailed to the church officers for their review and comments.
We will meet to discuss the rough draft at the June Officers
Meeting and to determine our next step.
We will keep you informed, and hope to have a copy available for
you ASAP.
Sermon Series and Evening Study
We will be continuing our study of Hebrews on Sunday mornings. What a challenge this book has been to me!
It has been a challenge to me as an individual believer, and then
as a pastor seeking to lead a church.
One of the greatest challenges came for me in Hebrews 10:23-25.
For years, I had read Hebrews 10:24-25 in the context of public,
corporate worship. But a
closer examination has revealed that, though it is important to assemble
publicly and corporately as a body of believers, it is equally important
for us to have a carefully designed plan to stimulate and to encourage
one another outside of our public assembly.
As a matter of fact, we cannot accomplish the things just
mentioned effectively during our worship hour.
So, I have been thinking about how to accomplish
the goals of stimulating and encouraging one another as our text
teaches. I believe we have
some opportunities to accomplish these goals, but they need to be
re-evaluated, and, if necessary, changed.
As I work on this, would you please consider your participation
in the life of Bigelow? Are
you doing your part in stimulating and encouraging fellow believers? Take some time to read and study Hebrews 10:23-25.
After doing so, please pray that God would stir up within you the
desire to be obedient to His way. You
need the body of Christ, and the body of Christ needs you!
On Sunday evening we will continue our study of the
“one another” passages found in the New Testament.
This time provides a great opportunity to hear from one another
as we reflect upon God’s Word together.
We always enjoy a time of prayer, and a song or two before we
open the Word. Please come and enjoy this time together.
Disciplehour
Please don’t forget that we have learning and fellowship
opportunities each week during Disciplehour for all ages.
We have a wonderful teaching staff that put in many hours to
prepare life-changing lessons. The
adult class that meets in the parlor will start a study of Jeremiah,
while the adult class that meets in the basement will start a study of
the ministry of the Holy Spirit. Young
adults, don’t forget the class we have for you led by Joe Allwood,
which meets on the second floor. We
look forward to your coming each Sunday at 9:45 am to learn with us.
Summer Outings
We are in the process of putting together our summer outing
schedule. As always, we
enjoy getting together for some summer fun, food, and fellowship.
Watch for details in the Sunday bulletins.
Thank You
I thank God for your faithfulness to the cause of Christ here at
Bigelow. God continues to
teach us much about Himself as He prepares us for greater service.
May God continue to bless you richly in His Son.
