Pastor’s Note:
Happy New Year!
It is hard for me to imagine that this year I will have had the
privilege of serving as the pastor of Bigelow for seventeen years.
I have to admit that it doesn’t seem as though this is true.
The time has gone by quickly, and yet it has brought many
opportunities to grow in Christ. With
that said, I am looking forward to the New Year and more opportunities
to grow as a body. I hope
that you will take advantage of the opportunities with me.
Opportunities
One of the most underused opportunities is Disciplehour.
Disciplehour provides small classes where you can learn more
about God’s Word, the application of it to your life, and more about
others you worship with. We
have some very unique characters that worship here at Bigelow.
It’s not fair that I alone know these characters.
So, make the New Year the year you take advantage of this growth
opportunity.
There are also many opportunities to serve God and
others. We are always looking for folks to help in Disciplehour,
nursery, youth church, and choir to name a few.
As I have mentioned before, if there is an area of ministry you
are interested in, and you don’t see it happening in our church, then
please let me know and we will discuss it.
The leadership of Bigelow is always evaluating our ministry
needs, but there may be areas that you see before we do, and we would
love for you to let us know your concerns.
We are committed to meeting the needs of our membership, and we
value your concerns and input. We
are thankful for the opportunity to serve you.
Constitutional Update
The leadership continues to work through our church constitution.
We are seeking to define where we are, and where we are going.
We have been doing this for some time now.
We have chosen to take our time in this review process.
We have sought to keep you informed of our review via our monthly
newsletters. Please
continue to pray for us as we continue this endeavor.
It has been rewarding to us as leaders, and we trust it will be
for you as well.
Sermon Series
We are now about half way through our study of the book of Hebrews.
We will continue this study, and finish it some time this year.
After this study, we will take a look into the Old Testament
again. I have enjoyed doing a New Testament book followed by an Old
Testament book. This allows
us to consider the “whole counsel of God,” not just what I want to
preach. This has allowed me
to grow and mature in ways I could not imagine when I started this
preaching schedule.
Sunday Evening Series
We continue to study through Psalm 119 on Sunday evening.
This study provides us opportunities to discuss what we are
learning as we work through the text.
If you are not previously committed to working in a Sunday
evening ministry, then please make an effort to join us for this study.
Deacon Care Groups
Finally, before long you will be receiving a letter explaining this new
ministry opportunity. We
look forward to this growth opportunity, as we share our lives with one
another. Watch for your
letter in the mail.
Thank You
I want to thank you for the opportunity to serve as your pastor.
You have been a blessing to my family and to me.
Thank you also for your faithfulness in serving, praying,
worshiping, and giving. I’m
looking forward to what is ahead for our local church body.
In Christ,
Pastor Frank
