Pastor’s Note:
As most of you are aware, at our November
Congregational Meeting, the members present voted to accept the new
Church Constitution. What
an exciting time for us as a church! But also a very challenging time.
The implementation of all of the constitutional provisions will
begin in earnest, and I’m sure there will be an ongoing need to
“work out the bugs.” Please
continue to pray for the leaders as they give time and attention to
getting off to a good start. Again,
let me say thank you for your involvement in bringing the process of
adopting a new constitution to fruition.
Elder Care
Groups
By the years end, member families of Bigelow will be divided among
the elders for oversight and spiritual care.
Once this is done, then you will be contacted by one of them to
explain the goal of elder care groups.
At the same time, there will be a series of questions asked to
help us assess the spiritual condition of our church, and to help us
determine what we need to do to help you grow in Christ-likeness.
We look forward to talking with each of you over the next couple
of months, so be prepared to set a date for your visit with your elder
care elder.
Deacon Care
Ministry
Each deacon will be responsible for the oversight of a particular
area of service to our fellowship.
These men will be responsible to solicit help from you to
accomplish their ministry goals and objectives.
You will be hearing from them as early as year’s end.
These ministries are too big for one person to do, so we will
need you, the body, to get involved by using your gifts, talents, and
abilities. We are
attempting to make a large ministry more manageable and efficient by
getting more folks involved. The
Deacon Care Ministry will allow many who have offered to help in the
past to be able to use their gifts, talents, and abilities in profitable
ways. I’m looking forward
to the majority of you finding a place of service in the local body here
at Bigelow. Once you hear
the need, then jump right in and get to work for the good of all of us.
Core
Seminars
After the elders make their visits, we will assess the spiritual
needs of our church body. After
this assessment, we will determine what studies need to be scheduled to
help us grow from the inside out. Our
goal is your individual growth: growth that will cause us as a body to
grow in many ways. The
studies will be offered at various times and places to allow for all to
have access to them. So, be prepared to get into one of these studies when we get
them started.
Preaching
& Teaching Subjects
We will continue our study of the Song of Solomon on Sunday
mornings. We will continue
our study of 1 Corinthians on Sunday evenings.
And, don’t forget our Disciple Hour classes for all ages at
9:45 am each Sunday.
Holiday
Invitations
As the holidays are upon us, now is the time to be
making those invitations to come and be with us for worship and study.
I have heard recently from a couple of you that you have made a
renewed commitment to invite folks to Bigelow.
Let me encourage each of us to do the same thing.
I believe we have a great place to worship, and to grow as a
Christian, so let’s make it known to others.
Biblical
Counseling Training
Track Two and Advanced Tracks will be offered again this coming year
at Wheelersburg Baptist Church. This
will be our fifth year to offer this training.
I have the privilege of teaching this each year with Pastor Brad
Brandt.
Many folks in our congregation have gone through
the training, and have found it extremely helpful, personally.
This training is for anyone interested in growing as a Christian,
and also concerned about helping others grow.
Please pick up a brochure in the back of the auditorium for more
details. I’m encouraging
all of you to participate in this training.
Thank You
As I say each month (but I never tire of saying it), thank you for
your continued support of the work here at Bigelow church.
May God bless His work among us.
In Christ,
Pastor Frank
